About the Expo

This expo is recognized as the largest annual book trade fair in the United States.

Originally known as “American Booksellers Association Convention and Trade Show”, it was initially held in Washington, D.C. from 1947 to 1971. Then later known as Book Expo America (BEA), it was often held in Chicago, IL in the 1990s and early 2000s. BEA was again held in Washington, D.C., in 2006, in New York City in 2007 and in Los Angeles in 2007. Then BEA was held again in New York from 2009 to 2015. BEA returned in Chicago in 2016 and for the last 2 years, BEA returned to New York City.

The book expo will run for 3 days, from May 27-29, 2020.

The re-imagined BookExpo will transform from a “trade show” to an end-to-end business solution for the global publishing industry. The author will potentially experience, in-person, how content creation, rights trading, retail strategy and consumer behavior will increase profitability and give the author the tools to succeed in today’s shifting marketplace.

The BookExpo America is the largest annual trade show in the United States for the entire publishing industry. This is the “feeding frenzy” for the publishing industry, the place where all the members of the trade go to make the deals — and it’s our playground, the place where we go to get YOUR book under consideration by agents and publishers!

We will represent your book at the Expo and will provide you with:

  • Contact information package of targeted literary agents and publishers who have specifically expressed interest in seeing your book.
  • A follow up query letter to send along with each requested snail mail submission.
  • Do follow-ups for you for all requested submissions by email.
